VCU basketball continues annual holiday tradition

December 18, 2017 by Beth Johnson Filed Under: Worth Reading

With VCU freshman forward Marcus Santos-Silva in tow, 9-year-old Tae’veon searched around the Target in the Libbie Place Shopping Center on Sunday looking for the right gifts.

Focused and eyeing items for his 12-year-old brother, 6-year-old sister and his mother, he added a football, a basketball, dolls, Legos and earrings to his cart before checking out.

“I feel great to (give) them something back in return for what they help me do,” he said.

Tae’veon was one of the 50 children — 25 from the Northside Family YMCA and 25 from the Metro Richmond Boys & Girls Club — who participated in this year’s annual Shop With the Rams event with the Virginia Commonwealth University men’s basketball team.
